Gene Wolfe’s method for breaking “writer’s block”: if he can’t write, he forbids himself any form of entertainment until, out of sheer boredom, his unconscious gives in. He claims the longest he’s gone without being able to write is four days.

  3. I’m going to try it out tomorrow on my day off. I’m switching from poetry to fiction and getting my word count up there has been challenging. The other day I had exhausted myself in three hours over… 750 words. It’d be great, though probably unrealistic, to get up to 5k a day.
