A couple of good insights from this article about one of my favourite authors. Watch how he creates a believable character, off the cuff, in just a few sentences.
I was also struck by the “Hemingway device,” in which you remove something from the overt story but let its presence still influence what remains.
I think I’ll be getting the biography.
My favorite author. I got to see him and see him read a couple of times. Taken much too young.
Thanks for posting this. Glad to see another Zelazny fan.

The Z end of my bookcase is filled with battered second-hand paperbacks of all his major and most of his minor works, collected over years. So far, my novels are not strongly influenced by him, but a few of my short stories explicitly are.

Have you played AMBER?
I watched Roger play once. (I was big fanboi excited.)
Played it for years at home… great group of friends.
I have all his books in his own clear plastic box. I should go through and see what I have, and missing some day.

I haven’t played the classic ADRPG, but I played in a wiki-based Amber game for about a year. It was more like collaborative storytelling. We were Fae from the city in the sky. Great fun.
