I’ve used the Fussy Librarian and not made my money back, though I did get some sales. Haven’t tried most of the others. I’m thinking of giving Ereader News Today another go – they turned me down once before.

Are free book promotions worth it? Find out here: http://ow.ly/Cfju304WpOd #IARTG #bookmarketing #IAN1
Doing “one at a time” is pointless. Amazon gives you the freebie or the countdown deal for a chunk of days.
Dammit, I’m just going to publish my article on medium. Hang on…

I used BargainBooksy last year when I launched my last novel. At the time, I believe their SF list was about 65k addresses, and I naively said, well, if only 100 people out of those 65k buy my novel, I’ll break even. That should be reasonable. Ha! Pretty sure I got less than 10 purchases.
I did do myself a bit of a disservice that probably made the promotion less successful. I tried to use the full blurb in the promotion. Apparently, it was too long, and so they truncated it, making it much less compelling. I have since put together some very brief blurbs that are much more compelling.
Oh, yes, I’d forgotten I’d used BargainBooksy. Similar thinking to you, and similar results.
In both cases, the promotion was for a book permanently at 99c, not a free-via-KDP book, so using one service at a time made more sense, especially from a research perspective. I have used multiple (free) services for a free promotion in the past.
