This article points out a big truth: they better get on that Guaranteed Livable Income plan, pronto, or there’ll be riots. Drivers make up a huge part of the work force.

  1. Heard this on NPR last week. The change is much less dire than the articles would make one believe. The “Driverless” trucks will be anything but driverless. They will be on auto-drive for highway miles but the drivers will take over when they are in off-highway areas. It actually made me want to get my CDL. The truck does the long-haul while I read/write/observe…yes, please.

  2. I should have known that the Puffington Host would have exaggerated things. Thanks.

The underlying point about changes in employment remains, though, even if this isn’t the immediate, burning issue it’s made out to be.

  3. That will be the case until the trucking/taxi/bus companies get the laws changed. Uber has already started lobbying to allow driverless taxis with no operator in the vehicle.
