If I feel up to it, I do it. But I go with the motivation. I try to work on the creative stuff when it feels right. Fortunately, I’m used to powering through if I have to reach a deadline. But if I can go at my own pace, I’m able to know when to keep going and when to quit.
I recall John Cleese speaking of writing Fawlty Towers episodes that one day would be great and the next terrible. So they worked like that.
It has taken several years of self directed working for me to find optimal hours. 5-7 hours a day with copious breaks is about all that results in good work.
Thinking is working when it is about the work in hand
