It’s a fine balance, between different enough to be interesting and similar enough to be relatable/understandable. Too many people are afraid to get close to the edge and risk falling off into the abyss of “I don’t know what this means”.

I don’t think I have the balance that well but I am learning to explain in greater detail using more specifically Earth-centric metaphors.
I guess I lean toward the different-enough-to-be-interesting. Editors and beta readers tend not to want to engage but/and though my readership is small, they are loyal.
