I found this thought-provoking. Particularly since I’d just read a post on how YouTube is a hostile environment for women with STEM shows, and blocked a commenter who was demonstrating why. In retrospect, maybe I should have reported him as well.

I think you perhaps should have. Not because the platform is likely to do anything immediate but for the longer game of creating an understanding that there are a lot of us out here who aren’t OK with it.
It was a bit of a line call as to whether it was actually hate speech or just idiocy. From now on, I’ll lower my tolerance level.
It would be good if there were some mid range options before blocking and reporting. It’s very binary. I suppose warning would be an option but I don’t know.
