Be aware: I have seen books from them with bad copy editing. There are probably badly promoted books, too, but by the nature of things I haven’t seen those.
Just because they’re big doesn’t mean you’ll get more help. It does mean you’ll get a smaller proportion of the money than you would from self-pub or from many small presses. But it might… might… get you more visibility.

Jefferson Smith Where did you find the description of their terms that your comment is based on?
I’m not quoting terms from Daw or any other specific publisher, David Friedman. In general, contracts from most large publishers include a commitment for some number of additional books. Especially if the book under contract is the start of a series.
Jefferson Smith I don’t think that was true of my contract with Baen for Harald, so far as I remember. Or for any of my non-fiction books. I can’t speak to the case of other fiction publishers.
