  1. The article tells it that researchers now can tell two years in advance, which is not that long, and be 85% right. Pity the poor 15%. But you are saying as a writer and 15 years.

    Fifteen years is too long. Science says that about smoking and lung cancer. Does to stop a smoker? Only when they are faced with it right now, emphysema, lung cancer, stroke etc do they stop.

    My father died a few years ago. He had a fast inoperable cancer and the doctor said he’d have six months to wind up his affairs. Prior to that, he’d always said he’d kill himself if he got cancer or dementia.

    When asked by every surprised person why he was still with us 3 months down the track, for example, it turned out he decided every day on another day to sit in the sun and watch the grandkids at play.

    Since then I have seen that in a couple more oldsters, even one with early dementia. Whatever they said before, when it came to the crunch, life, while they had it was sweeter.
