One of the many interesting things about this article is that people are becoming much more comfortable with wearing prosthetics that don’t attempt to hide the fact that they’re prosthetics or return the body to looking “normal”. I think science fiction has probably helped with that mental shift, even if the prosthetics worn by Luke Skywalker or Steve Austin were designed to mimic natural limbs.
