Personally, I think fixing the food supply and defeating obesity is likely to be a lot easier than fixing social media and online interaction to produce a saner and better-informed society; but my perspective there has probably been soured by recent events.

  1. Although an over abundance of goods is seen to be a problem, there is still that expectation that the abundance of raw materials to produce those goods will continue. There will be shortage in quite a few areas starting with fresh water

  2. Yes. Among the advances we’ll need, many will have to do with doing more with less. The new approaches like 3D printing can reduce transport costs, though, and abundant renewable energy is a key to a lot of things. There’s a lot of good work going into water purification, too.

  3. All good points. Out in regional areas doing more with less is almost traditional. Hope we can re-infect urbanites with that habit.

A woman I know has had a new 3D printed vertebra put in. You wouldn’t call it installed.

    What about food versus biofuel?
