Mmmm, transhuman goodness.
Isn’t it up to each individual, though, to decide whether or not pursuing life extension — or even life reduction — is right for them?

Individual choices affect society at large, so society has a legitimate interest in what those choices are. How that interest can be expressed, how it can be reconciled with individual freedom, is another huge topic; but we’re not just individuals whose choices have no consequences for anyone but ourselves, in this case at least.
